The Quirk is a boutique hotel and art gallery integrated with two historic houses along Charlottesville’s Main Street. The L-shaped building defines a bluestone courtyard between the existing houses and the hotel, creating an outdoor space for dining and special events. A perennial garden walk leads visitors from the street into the courtyard below. From Main Street, The Mews Walk provides a pedestrian connection to the gallery space on Commerce Street. Planting surrounding the hotel takes inspiration from the former house gardens, creating year-round interest. Rooftop planters filled with sumac bracket seating areas, providing guests a space to enjoy views to Monticello and the surrounding landscape.
